Current Rating and Rules of Engagement guide

Naval Action Ship Rating and PvP Limits Guide

Naval Action’s current Rating model and Rules of Engagement determine how ship and equipment values fit into PvP attack eligibility.

What to verify before a PvP attack

MechanicCurrent source-grounded reading
Ship RatingThe August 2026 developer update documents a current Rating model for ships; treat it as patch-scoped rather than permanent taxonomy.
EquipmentEquipment rating is part of the current calculation context, so do not evaluate a hull from an old standalone ship list.
Rules of EngagementThe update documents an attack-limit rule tied to Battle Rating, which can restrict whether a PvP attack is possible.
Matchup certaintyCheck the current in-game values and official update wording; this page does not promise that a particular ship can always attack another.

Current eligibility

Use this page for dated Rating and Rules of Engagement mechanics.

Freshness

Recheck the current update and in-game values after balance or PvP-rule changes.

No fixed table

Do not convert one patch’s Rating or Battle Rating values into a timeless matchup promise.

Rating before a PvP attack

Naval Action uses ship Rating and equipment context in the pre-attack decision. Before initiating PvP, inspect the live ship information, the current equipment state and the Rules of Engagement shown by the game. Do not substitute a static ship table for the current interface.

The August 2026 attack gate

The developer update dated August 2026 documents an asymmetric restriction: an attack cannot be initiated when the target Battle Rating is more than six times the attackers Battle Rating. This is a date-scoped rule from that update, not a timeless matchup table or a promise that every future rule will use the same threshold.

Practical pre-attack workflow

  1. Review the attackers current ship and equipment context.
  2. Check the target Battle Rating shown by the current game state.
  3. Read the current Rules of Engagement before committing.
  4. Apply the dated six-times restriction only as documented for the August 2026 update.
  5. Recheck after a patch or Rating change.

What Rating does not answer

Rating is not a complete substitute for ship class, construction quality, fittings or player skill. This page does not publish a full BR table, universal loadout tier list or permanent matchup guarantee. Ship Rates and Classes owns taxonomy, Ship Crafting owns construction and Peace vs Caribbean owns server-choice context.

Keep the rule current

Battle Rating, equipment rating, damage context and attack eligibility can be revised. If the live interface or a newer developer update differs, prefer the current dated source and record the change rather than repeating an old PvP rule.

Read Rating as an attack-eligibility check

The August 2026 developer update makes Rating a current PvP decision input, not a permanent ship taxonomy. Before an attack, read the live ship and equipment context together. A hull’s place in a broad rate or class framework does not by itself tell you whether the Rules of Engagement will allow the encounter. This page is about that dated eligibility question.

The same update documents an attack restriction connected to Battle Rating: an attacker must meet the patch-scoped relationship described by the developer update, including the six-times gate. Treat that statement as a dated rule for the documented build. Do not turn it into a timeless table, a matchup guarantee or a promise that every similarly labelled ship can attack every target.

A safe workflow is to inspect the current values, check equipment context, read the Rules of Engagement state and then confirm the official update if the result is surprising. Recheck after changes to Rating components, equipment effects, Battle Rating or attack eligibility. Ship rates, classes and crafting answer neighbouring questions; they do not replace this current-limit check.
